Over 2,500 People were there!

03/04/10 – Houston, Texas – Christian Impact News was on the scene as the city of Houston,  businesses, organizations, local pastor Rob Parker and Quanell X drew together to meet a need gone long overlooked: Providing jobs and services to people with an “ex” on their back. As a whole the Road to Re-Entry was a tremendous success! On the other hand: We need companies to give ex convicts the opportunity to work. We need more pastors/churches/ministers/mentors getting involved in the lives of those who are trying to turn their lives around. We need to start asking the right people the right questions.

Can an ex con get a job? It is no easy task, believe me, I know. I won't go into the statistics but it is a no-brainer, a job can reduce the chances of returning to jail. Having a job reduces stress and can help a man feel like a man again (sometimes for the first time.) "Ex convicts" are faced with so many barriers, we are proud to be attending the Road to Re-entry on March 3rd, 2010. This program is designed to help men with a criminal background get jobs/training and development (mainly in sales). It is fantastic and we need more programs designed to help ease the transition back into society for “ex offenders.” Christian Impact News will have a table set up there offering jobs and connecting with others who support helping those who need a chance to be productive members of society.  I pray I will get the chance to tell them that there is a biblical principle that, if applied here, will fundamentally change all of our lives forever. "Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven (GOD)), and all things will be added unto you."  We need a minister/mentor/shepherd for every person there - addressing spiritual needs that may have gone long ignored. The Road to Re-entry may be the only missing piece of the puzzle for some of the ex convicts, but the needs of the others does not need to go ignored! A special hats off to the churches that maybe represented: Rev Robert Jefferson, Cullen Missionary Baptist Church, Rev CL Jackson, Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Bishop James Dixon, Community of Faith Church, Minister Robert Muhammad, Houston Ministers Against Crime, Moving Forward – Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church (this is a partial listing of churches and minister that may be present. These are all partners with Houston Crime Coalition and some may not attend the May 3^rd event.)
