When I was a child (over 3 decades ago - LOL), I saw one episode of "I Dream of Jeanie" where Jeanie's belly button was accidently exposed. It was a very big deal. Fast forward to today when you can see considerably more than that... the same rules do not apply. Today, we must face the fact that the evil seed has grown into a full sized plant and our kids play beneath its branches. Our children must be equipped- yes, it can be argued that a child is better taught by his/her parent though I can site cases where the opposite is true. The essence of the problem is that our children (not mine, ours), get about as much sex education at home as we did and that is not enough for today's sexual issues. An African proverb says it takes a village to raise a child. I see absolutely nothing wrong with a female teacher talking to her female students about age appropriate sexual issues- surely we can trust that the people we have entrusted to teach our children how to make a brighter future can educate them on issues of sex. We run from talking about sex, which is crazy because so much of our society is driven by it. Sexual images abound everywhere-surely the classroom is a safe environment for learning?
